Diarra ruled out of finals
Diarra missed training on Friday & Saturday after complaining of stomach pains while scaling a glacier together with his team-mates at France's pre-World Cup training base in the Italian Alps here on Thursday.
France coach Raymond Domenech took a 24-man provisional squad to Tignes but does not must submit his final 23-man squad to FIFA until 1 June. Les Bleus start their World Cup campaign against Group A rivals Uruguay in Cape Town on 11 June.
Guardado raring to go again
Since bursting on to the scene as a 19-year-old at France 2006, Andres Guardado has gone on to become one of the most recognisable faces of the Mexico team. A thorn in Argentina’s side in the coursework of El Tri’s unfortunate Round-of-16 exit three years ago, the Mexican wide man has maintained his high standards, impressing over the last five seasons with Deportivo La Coruna and earning the full confidence of his national coach Javier Aguirre.
